Here's a video I've just put together. It's a couple of minutes long,
and takes about the same time to download over broadband. It's a bit
rough, but hey - it's my first attempt...

Just caught up with your movie Crispin - great fun!
Those interior doors are wonderful and the console – it works, wow.
Strangely, in some shots, I could have sworn it was Christopher Eccleston behind the scarf…..

Most of the buttons on the console do something, but ironically I
actually had them turned off whilst I was movie-making. The sound
effects don't come over very well on the camera microphone, so I added
them back again in post-production.
My
hair length: oh, you noticed that? I went back a few weeks after I'd
originally made the film to add a few more shots from different angles
while I was sorting out the music, but unfortunately my wife had given
me a drastic haircut in between. Hence the 'slight' continuity error...

It was
fun to do though, and a surprising amount of work. It's given me a
whole new respect for the creative people in the film/TV industry.

LOL, alot of gyrations just to get your hat their crispin, When are you
going to get that time rotor fixed? I will say this, you would make an
amazing Lamont Cranston. Great video. Oh and on another
stalking/visiting note, Beth and I may be out there again next year so
expect another visit, have the Vegan Choc-chip cookies ready.

Lamont Cranston? That would make me The Shadow, right? But then I'd
have to be a minion of the Black Guardian, which would be no good at
all!

Was that studio version 9 you were using Crispin? Only my version keeps
crashing when i try to do dematerialisation sequences with my old Dapol
model. Still keep trying though! Lots of fun innit?

I've been using Cyberlink Power Director, but at version 4. It was available at half price for a while.
I
looked at trials for Cyberlink PowerDirector, ULead Studio, PureMotion
EditStudio and Adobe Premiere (which is expensive) but getting any of
them to do anything was an exercise in frustration: I saw some
selection of crashes during editing, obvious bugs, poor performance and
freeze-ups, incompatibilities and garbage output from all of them. I'm
normally pretty computer savvy, but I've had extraordinary trouble with
video editing throughout its history.
It's great fun when it
works, though. PowerDirector 4 is pretty flakey on my machine, but
works well enough enough of the time to be useable.

The
music is actually auto-generated by the video editing tool I use (see
earlier in the thread). It has a feature called "Magic Music" which I
think must be mixing recordings of musical parts on the fly to make up
a piece of music of the requested length. I actually decided to use the
generated music mostly because you don't have to licence it, but it's
not bad is it?

It makes me think we could have a new entrant in the science fiction death match along with: The Borg cube Vs the Death Star The Terminator Vs the Cybermen And now The Wheelie bin Vs the Dalek!!
Maybe you could try it out and see who wins?

Mad stuff - and I never imagined the wheelie-bin as a 'returning
monster'. And your computer just makes that music up as it goes along?

Hi, I've just joined this site, Just
wanted to say I love the videos. I make a few videos myself. Love the
first vid with the Tardis console(Where do you find room to put up the
set?) Just one point and its in no way a criticism, just a constructive
point. It would be great if you had a Little more internal lighting. I
notice that the light from the wall panels is causing the exposure to
be a little dark. Perhaps some spotlights or less wall panel light
might help? Love to see another featuring the tardis console, keep it up.

Glad you enjoyed the videos: I've got at least one more in the works, but it may be a while.
You're
right about the lighting though. I'd need several spot lamps to avoid
getting bad shadows and with some pretty serious KWs. There's about 2KW
of lighting in the room already, which is pushing it, as over here we
only have 110V at 15A, so they're spread over two circuits to avoid
tripping the breakers. It's still not very bright, as the wall panels
lose a lot of the light, somehow. I'll have to run some extension
cables during filming. I might even find a decent video camera...
I'm
planning to do some work on the console room over the summer, which
should give me an opportunity to do something about the lighting and
get the console column movement working properly.
If you're curious, there's more about it on my website...

WHEELIE BIN vs. DALEK in COURT BATTLE
Dalek: "You stole our design! You will be exterminated!" Bin: "I'm not alive - hang on, why am I talking then?" Dalek: "You will be exterminated in court!"
(in court) Judge: Order! Ord - Aaaargh!!!! (he has been killed by the Dalek) Dalek: Daleks will rule the universe! Exterminate! Exterminate! etc. Stiiiiiinnng....
Part two Dalek: Exterminate! Bin: No, I'm not alive, but I can talk. Maybe I'm actually a robot. I'm very stupid not knowing what I am.

I took a photo of the actual mailbox outside the store and painted out
the mailbox with MS Paint - easier than it sounds as you can just pick
up areas of background and copy them over the thing to be removed. It's
far from perfect, but the low resolution video hides the seams somewhat. Now if only getting my TARDIS into a barn in the UK had been that easy...
