Wow, I wish I'd had that picture when I was building my sets - I had to work from a couple of screen grabs.

those outakes were funny as but it seems that scarfwearer and the daleks was a challange to make.
still a new methoed of dalek piloting has emerged no dalek operators but dalek pushers (hope that the daleks dont have unions)

I've
been pushing the daleks a lot. The camera I have only takes 30 seconds
of video at a time, which isn't actually time to climb into a dalek,
and nearly all of this is done solo. There is one shot where the daleks
are just rolling down the slope by themselves. Come to think of it, I
think there were only three shots in the whole movie where the daleks
were actually occupied...
Of course the challenge is part of the fun.

Hi Scarfwearer - I've been cleaning up my computer (a bit... - lots of
distractions) and found most if not all of your vids and watched them
again - fantastic!! Oddly enough, I rented and watched the Sontaran
Experiment today and found that in all of the sequences where Stuart
Fell (or whoever it was) was pretending to by Tom Baker and
deliberately shot from the back and oblique angles - I found myself
seeing the Scarfwearer Doctor instead! I'm not sure exactly what the
similarity is - probably just about everything up to and including the
lack of Tom Baker's face.
Cheers old chap, keep up the good work!

Possibly the costume not fitting perfectly? The stunt man is presumably not exactly the same height at Tom Baker. Scarfwearer's
coat is actually Mrs. Scarfwearer's and thus a bit small... So is the
hat... Oh and did I mention that she knitted the scarf as well? I just
know I'm walking into some joke about cross dressing at this point.

Cheers
Glen, I have some ideas for when the weather improves. It's a bit
changeable at the moment - I walk out, it's raining so I walk in and
walk out another door and the weather is different! I feel like
Heinlein's cat.

Hmm - I think I was about 11 when the Sontaran Experiment was made. I've changed dimensionally somewhat since then.

Hi Scarfwearer,
thankwearer youwearer very muchwearer!
That was a lot of fun and the props looked great (with fun 'cardboardy' Dalek controls!)
The
DARDIS really looked rounded, it was a surprise to find it was just
elliptical top and base and other bits painted flats. The Daleks coming
out sequence worked really well. So did the slant-up door.
I had to laugh at the prolonged corridor-walking sequences, very fine.
Your demat circuit is ACE! And the knife switch I hadn't realised was all made up, it looked the biz.
Nice to know how it was done and that it can be done simply and cheaply yet look so good. Generous of you to share the details.
Cheers!
Graham

Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it! The
DARDIS exterior pretty much followed the design of the original from
"The Chase", and I dare say it was made much the same way. As the
weather's much better I'm mulling over another movie, but as always
there's very little time in between other bits of life...

Cheers! I'd just begun filming a
new movie when our new video camera arrived recently. Previously I've
been filming with an old digital still camera that also happens to just
about manage 10-30 second video snippets which I then stitch together... I suppose I'll have to re-film the new movie now. But that will have to wait for some more sunshine...

Alas
I'm a Windows kind of guy.The movies all have MPG versions on the
website though, but the first one you see may be a Windows Media
version. Look for the here words in the description which point
at an MPG version you can download. If you really can't do MPG I might
be able to convert them to Quicktime. I suppose I ought to use the platform neutral player on my website, but it behaves oddly in some browsers.

Just a progress update: I have about 90% of the footage I need for the
new movie, edited into a rough first cut. There's lots of effects work
and sound to be done, and I find I have to keep going back for those
link shots which makes it flow reasonably well. I'm
shooting it in 16:9 format, but the old video tools I have are not
coping with that very well. I'm also having a bit of trouble with
combing, which I think is due to interlace fields. I'm not going to
say anything much about the content, as I've always thought that
teasers and spoilers only detract from the experience of a first
showing (and my movies need all the help they can get ). I also change my mind about the content sometimes. I'm presently hoping to get it out by Christmas, depending on other commitments.

A real treat to watch, great picture quality and I like the widescreen format, gives it a more cinematic feel
(and I find I always need a nap after a bike ride too)
Brilliant stuff!

I'm glad you enjoyed it It
took a while because I spent a lot of time waiting for occasional
breaks in the cloud cover! Filming in autumn you only get a few hours
when the sun's high enough. Hopefully the next one will be mostly in the console room...
We had about 5-6 takes of Ani, because she kept missing the fence(!) and yes, the poor bike got some terrible abuse.
I'm
still using Cyberlink PowerDirector 4 for the basic editing. They're
now at version 6(!) so it's probably time to upgrade. There are several
other editing suites in this category, all fairly similar. I also used
Windows Movie Maker for the web format conversion.
Normally
that's been sufficient, but this time I also found a really tekkie
thing called VirtualDub supported by AviSynth, which I used for some of
the special effects, video massaging and 16:9 conversion. AviSynth
actually involves scripting, so it's only for the terminally geeky. It
does do better special effects though.
