Quote:I'm glad you enjoyed it It
took a while because I spent a lot of time waiting for occasional
breaks in the cloud cover! Filming in autumn you only get a few hours
when the sun's high enough. Hopefully the next one will be mostly in the console room...
We had about 5-6 takes of Ani, because she kept missing the fence(!) and yes, the poor bike got some terrible abuse.
I'm
still using Cyberlink PowerDirector 4 for the basic editing. They're
now at version 6(!) so it's probably time to upgrade. There are several
other editing suites in this category, all fairly similar. I also used
Windows Movie Maker for the web format conversion.
Normally
that's been sufficient, but this time I also found a really tekkie
thing called VirtualDub supported by AviSynth, which I used for some of
the special effects, video massaging and 16:9 conversion. AviSynth
actually involves scripting, so it's only for the terminally geeky. It
does do better special effects though.

Watched the latest foray this morning, C, and was suitably impressed,
especially with the intercutting of the "other" footage with the
bandages... and is it me or is your TARDIS getting lighter in colour?

Well
it's possible the paint is fading - it is interior paint and she was
outside for a long time, though of course I'd be the last to notice. It
may also just be the colour balance in the video - a lot of the shots
were regraded to deal with ambient light and the differences between
the cameras and the borrowed footage. I probably should have graded the
TARDIS shots a bit more, as they are a bit light...

Actually, I love it, for although she does appear very light, it looks
suitably old and weathered, and it's very reminiscent of that totally
gorgeous model of a Police Box that was on ebay recently...

Just a heads up that the next
Scarfwearer outing has commenced filming - I have about a minute of
rough-edited footage so far. I don't like spoilers so I won't say
anything much about what'll be in it, but I hope to get it out before
Xmas.

Crispin,
Great job. I love the black and white old fuzzy tv look to the beginning. Nice job on the console room too.
So I see you have the doors working but does the time rotor move yet?

OK,
I've put up a Windows Media version instead that will stream from the
server so you don't have to wait for a full download when you watch it
on the web page. If you find it's stopping to do buffering, let me know
and I can put up a more compressed version, though it's already
smoothed out most of the video noise I deliberately introduced as it
is.
Alas I'm too shy to have it on youtube - much too public for me.

| Scarfwearer
is my alter-ego - it started because I wasn't sure I wanted to be that
public with this new-fangled online forum stuff (okay this is going
back a bit), but it's sort of taken on a life of its own... plus it
disguises the varying length of my hair when I'm filming over a long
period. The
website is public enough, but the videos were originally only reachable
from Rebuilders. It looks like google has found them though. I feel I'm taking baby steps with video and I don't feel really ready for wide exposure.

Crispin,
Your stuff is very
creative and is far superior to most of the crap that is on Youtube! I
think I speak for many on here that your vids are very enjoyable.
I was just ribbin ya on the scarf, everyone has to have their alter ego persona.
Keep up the great work!!

I think you could go more widespread and still remain safely unknown.
as others have said, your scarf wearing counterpart would take the
attention. Your films are clever and I know many who fans who like them
as well as more who would love to see them.

Brilliant Crispin! An Unearthly Scarf is a classic Scarfwearer production - Wonderful!
I loved 'Tilt' and did you make the Totters Lane sign? or search the country for a lane with the right name?

Well
the sign is just printed and stuck to a piece of hardboard. I searched
google for "Old Road Signs" and up came the Old Road Sign font in
TrueType format! Some dedicated soul has made up a free font to
resemble the signs.
I'd not thought of looking for a real
Totter's Lane, but I just had a look on google maps, and it turns out
that there is one, in Hampshire, between Farnborough and Basingstoke.
So I typed in 76, and it gave a location. So I looked at the satellite
imagery to see what's there: Well intriguingly, it's fairly remote
and there's a few buildings a little south *and* nestled in some trees,
there's a *small blue structure*! I'm almost tempted to drive there and
see what it is...

I'm back in the UK for the Jultide holidays and near to where I am is
an actual street called Colehill Lane! There used to be a doctor who
pinball machine in the pub there (back in 1993)
